Journey Rock Band Announces Farewell Tour

After more than five decades, one of America’s most beloved rock bands is preparing to say goodbye. Journey,  the group behind stadium anthems like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” and “Faithfully”  has announced that its 2026 North American tour will mark the beginning of the end.

Tour Date

The tour, titled “Final Frontier Tour 2026,” launches February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and will run through July 2 in Laredo, Texas. Sixty arena shows have been confirmed so far, with more dates expected in 2027. While the band isn’t giving an exact end date, they’ve made one thing clear: this is their farewell.

This feels so personal for fans,  it’s the closing chapter of a cultural legacy that spans generations. Journey has sold over 100 million records, earned a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and created one of the most streamed songs in U.S. history. “Don’t Stop Believin’” still averages millions of plays per week and has become a staple at sporting events, karaoke bars, and just about every wedding reception. In other news, popmedley shared a story on top 1o unmissable tours of 2025.

Neal Schon Says “He’s not done yet”

Founding guitarist Neal Schon, the longest-serving member and the keeper of Journey’s original flame, said the farewell tour is both a celebration and a transition. “While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter, I’m not done,” Schon said. “This tour is a thank you  and the beginning of what’s next.”

The lineup also includes longtime keyboardist Jonathan Cain, who joined the band in 1980 and co-wrote “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Cain described the tour as a final moment of gratitude: “We’ve shared our music with millions and this tour is about connection, one last chance to feel the magic together.”

A Goodbye or a Breakup

For years, fans have speculated about the band’s future as internal tensions played out publicly. In October, Schon hinted online that Cain was leaving, sparking rumors of a split. Cain’s camp quickly corrected the record: he would finish the tour before retiring. Now, both men appear aligned, they’re closing the Journey chapter together.

The band’s current vocalist, Arnel Pineda, who joined in 2008 after being discovered on YouTube, expressed gratitude: “Every night on stage has been a dream come true. I’m happy to be part of this legacy.” In typical Journey fashion, the farewell tour is massive. Ticket presales begin November 11 for Citi cardholders. General salesbegin on November 14. Notably, the first leg skips major markets like Los Angeles and New York,  likely being saved for a second and final round of dates.

The End of an Era

For an American audience, the symbolism hits hard: Journey isn’t just a rock band, they’re part of the national soundtrack. Their music has underscored high-school graduations, 80s mixtapes, prom dances, and the unforgettable final scene of The Sopranos. Saying goodbye to Journey means saying goodbye to the era they defined. Five decades later, millions of fans are still singing the same lyric:  “Don’t stop believin’.” Now, the band is inviting everyone to sing it with them, one last time.
