American Idol 2025 just got a whole lot more exciting and intense. After a high-energy “Ladies Night” episode on Sunday, May 4, the competition narrowed down to its Top 8. With more than 22 million votes cast by fans across the country, the results are in, and eight contestants are now one step closer to winning Season 23 of the iconic singing competition.

Sunday night’s theme celebrated powerful women in music, and the contestants brought their A-game with songs by legends like Adele, Reba McEntire, and Beyoncé. Country music star Miranda Lambert mentored the performers and offered no-nonsense advice based on her own experience in the industry. The evening also featured a special appearance by American Idol Season 21 winner Abi Carter, who performed her debut single, “Burned,” for the first time on the Idol stage.

Who Got Eliminated from American Idol 2025 This Week?
Unfortunately, two strong performers were sent home, Kolbi Jordan and Canaan James Hill. Both were platinum ticket holders, making their exit a major surprise. Jordan performed Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” while Hill gave a passionate performance of Underwood’s “Love Wins.” Despite their talent, viewer votes didn’t swing in their favor.
Now, the show moves into its Judges’ Song Contest, airing Monday, May 5 at 7 p.m. MDT on ABC. Judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan each picked songs for the contestants, and the Top 8 will sing live for America’s votes once again. The audience will select the Top 6, and the judges will save one more contestant, rounding out the Top 7 heading into the final stretch.
In other news, Popmedley recently shared a post on Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter tour and the legal tussle with The Sphere.
